Gaskets
SS Scientific supplies a comprehensive range of gaskets for all CF flange applications, including OFHC copper, annealed copper, aluminium, gold- and silver-plated copper, and elastomeric fluorocarbon options.
Metal gaskets are gas impermeable and can withstand moderately high temperatures indefinitely.
Because of their reliability, the CF flange system is the most widely used interface for high vacuum and ultra-high vacuum (UHV) environments, with a broad selection of compatible gauges, instruments, accessories, and feedthroughs.
CF Gasket Materials
Copper
Standard gaskets for stainless steel CF flanges are stamped from 1/4-hard, high-purity, oxygen free (OFHC) copper.
They are chemically cleaned and finished to ensure a scratch and burr free sealing surface.
Silver- & Gold-Plated Copper
For systems that require frequent high temperature bakeouts, silver or gold plated copper gaskets provide improved durability and ease of removal.
Aluminium (1100-H14)
Aluminium CF flanges must always use aluminium gaskets not copper.
Aluminium gaskets may also be used on stainless steel CF flanges, provided bakeout temperatures do not exceed 200 °C.
Fluorocarbon
Fluorocarbon gaskets with a flat cross-section are reusable and convenient for non-critical, non UHV applications, especially where frequent assembly and disassembly are required.
Nickel
Nickel gaskets are well suited for environments where corrosion resistance is essential.
